Introducing the Wild Gin & Tonic: a refreshing twist to our much-loved Gin & Tonic cocktail. Combining gin that's been boldly infused with toasted Szechuan peppercorns, yuzu juice, orange bitters, and tonic water tinged with elderflower, this spirited beverage fuses spicy and citrus notes into your cocktail hour. Ensuring the delightful blend is not missed, it is artistically served in a highball glass adorned with fresh slices of lemon and lime.

Unlike our standard Gin & Tonic that's famed for its simplicity - just gin and tonic water, this variant offers a slightly more multifaceted taste. The masterminds behind this creation, Moe Aljaff and Juliette Larrouy, use Szechuan peppercorns for adding that distinct spicy flare to the infused gin. As these peppercorns pack quite a punch with their numbing heat, courtesy of a compound known as hydroxy-alpha-sanshool, a mere 30-minute infusion suffices to infuse the gin with a spicy potency.

Upon straining the peppercorns, the gin is melded with the tangy yuzu juice and orange bitters. The cocktail then receives a sprinkle of elderflower-infused tonic water, resulting in a tantalizing merge of citrus, floral, and spicy tones that will make you yearn for another sip.

Traditionally, a G&T wins hearts with its minimalist approach of using herbaceous gin balanced with bittersweet tonic water, finally served as a balanced highball cocktail. However, this ambitious version takes it up a notch by incorporating carefully selected elements to build a more dynamic concoction. Toasted Szechuan peppercorns are introduced to unravel their fragrant, slightly floral aroma which beautifully counteracts any traces of bitterness.

Shirking the standard squeeze of lemon or lime, this recipe stands out by favoring yuzu juice that brings gentle tart notes and a subtle floral essence. The addition of orange bitters piles onto the citrusy complexity, while the elderflower-infused tonic water underlines the cocktail's invigorating freshness.

Moe Aljaff and Juliette Larrouy are credited with developing this ingenious recipe, with Lucy Simon contributing to the vibrant narrative. The meticulously curated recipe, featuring gin, toasted Szechuan peppercorns, a dash of kosher salt, yuzu juice, orange bitters, and elderflower tonic water, is destined to hit all the right notes and tantalize your taste buds, shaking up your traditional experience of a Gin & Tonic.
