American Express' Platinum Card Introduces Enhanced Perks Including Resy, Uber credits
- Oct 27, 2025
Platinum Card members of American Express have been offered an enticing new feature: an opportunity to rack up meaningful dining credits on restaurant reservation platform, Resy, as the credit card company extends its benefits for this group of customers. Owners of the Platinum Card can now bag up to $400 in statement credits when dining at any of the approximately 10,000 restaurants tied to Resy. The announcement also highlighted a fresh $120 Uber One membership credit to offset the cost of travel after meals, according to their press release.
This isn't an instant solution though, with American Express cautioning cardholders that account credits might take up to eight weeks to reflect. Dining purchases qualifying for the benefit must be made directly at the restaurant with the Platinum Card or through using Resy's reservation software. Sadly, customers can only redeem $100 per quarter; this does not roll over and with a cap on "eligible purchases" focusing solely on dining - so no gift cards or keepsake mugs will make the cut.
Resy's recent press release reveals that last year American Express cardmembers shelled out more than $87 billion on dining. In fact, the largest spending category for U.S. Platinum Card users under the broader banner of travel and entertainment was, interestingly, dining.
The modifications are not all rosy, however, as the iconic Amex Platinum Card has seen an increase in its annual fees, now standing at a whopping $895, an increase from the previous $695 annually. Despite this, the company's latest update claims that members now have access to an estimated overall benefit value of approximately $3,500 across dining, retail, and travel experiences, seemingly hoping this will offset the lofty annual fee. This includes the new $100 quarterly statement credits from Resy.
One unique advantage of this Platinum Card is the feature called Platinum Nights by Resy, an exclusive reservation advantage for cardholders at difficult-to-book restaurants. Specific dining spots in New York, such as Claud and Tatiana, and Los Angeles' Quarter Sheets, offer this benefit on selected nights for Platinum Card bookings only.
The Amex Platinum Card, a symbol of envy for businessmen and regular consumers alike, was first launched in 1984 as an invitation-only program. Over the years, it has continued to evolve, offering numerous travel and service benefits, including flight and dining collaborations.
These latest changes signal the ongoing collaboration between American Express and Resy, a platform that the credit card juggernaut acquired back in 2019. This move evidences their strategic intention to leverage Resy's burgeoning portfolio of top-tier restaurants to offer enriching experiences for their exclusive cardholders.
Pablo Rivero, CEO of Resy and Tock, and senior vice president of American Express Global Dining, explained how this synergy benefits all parties involved. He said, “American Express has a long history of connecting Card Members to premium dining experiences, and we’ve created unparalleled value and access to top restaurants with Resy.” He added, “We’re incentivizing millions of diners to support Resy restaurants – a win-win for our Card Members and our restaurant community."
Platinum Card holders are already enjoying access to hard-to-get reservations, exclusive lounges, and unique dining adventures through Resy. The platform includes access to 1,550 airport lounges worldwide and enhanced Centurion Lounges at 15 domestic airports. In collaboration with Resy, the culinary team has recently revamped the menu at these lounges featuring dishes from celebrated chefs such as 2019 Food & Wine Best New Chef, Kwame Onwuachi. These perks add to the prestige of owning a Platinum Card, allowing the members to book tables at their city's most coveted spots. The reservation confirmation screen in a world of waitlists is now a sweet victory for the cardholders.
