Arby’s Unveils Innovative New Steak Nuggets

Arby’s, known for their innovative fast-food products, has once again wowed the market with their latest novelty: Steak Nuggets. Packed with the iconic flavors of steak, and retaining the pleasing bite-sized proportions of nuggets, these limited edition treats mark the first time the brand has taken steak outside the realm of entrées and sandwiches.

Unlike the familiar chicken nuggets prevalent in most fast-food menus, Arby’s bold offering provides a ‘fresh take on nuggets’, giving its patrons three distinctly flavorful ways to enjoy these new favourites - individually, stuffed in a sandwich, or sprinkled atop white cheddar mac and cheese.

Arby’s Chief Marketing Officer, Jeff Baker, communicated the inception of the innovation in a statement, emphasizing the convenience of enjoying steak in its new avatar. "Steak is universally loved for its savory essence. But, it can be cumbersome to eat especially on the move," he noted. “Our latest product breaks this barrier, offering a sublime marriage of steak’s robust flavor with the handiness of nuggets.”

There are three exciting ways to enjoy these Steak Nuggets. As an entrée, you can get your hands on five or nine authentic steak morsels served with a Hickory BBQ sauce and fork, though using one's fingers adds to the charm. The Steak Nugget Sandwich comprises of the succulent, seared beef nuggets layered with Havarti cheese, crispy onions, pickles, and mayo nestled within a toasted bun. The Steak Nugget Bowl, a substantial offering, loads up the nuggets on a bed of creamy white cheddar mac and cheese, garnished with crispy onions.

The introduction of the Steak Nuggets represents a strategic approach by fast-food outlets, including Arby’s, to augment their menus with superior proteins. While select proteins such as wagyu and ribeye have occasionally featured in burgers, steak has typically been relegated to the ranks of full entrées or cheesesteaks.

Prominent snack influencers, including @markie_devo, previewed the new item to rousing reactions and interesting comparisons, paving the way for a successful launch. While some questioned if this was a return of the brand’s smoked burnt ends, many were simply excited by the re-emergence of steak in a novel form.

The current trend in the food industry favors protein-rich options, with high-protein goods permeating snacks, beverages, and desserts. Arby’s new creation aligns with this trend, providing a red meat alternative in a format typically associated with chicken or plant-based options.

According to a study by Mintel, patrons desire “elevated basics” when it comes to their meal options. Bowls or sandwiches featuring superior ingredients in comfortable formats are gaining popularity. Arby’s gambles on the smoked and seared steak in nugget form to meet this market trend, and their limited-time Steak Nuggets, available nationwide, seem poised to do exactly that.
