Card holders of American Express (Amex) are no strangers to the range of lifestyle and travel perks their plastic offers. For those who enjoy dining out, one of the biggest benefits ties to Resy, a bookings platform that was added to the Amex portfolio in 2019.

A selection of Amex cards grant card members statement credits for dining at enrolled Resy restaurants throughout the U.S. The process is straightforward: cardmembers enlist via their Amex account and pay for their meal at the restaurant with the pertinent card. The statement credit then typically appears within a few days.

This benefit is favored due in part to the extensive list of restaurants already popular among diners that are a part of the program. Resy's partnerships span thousands of eateries including wine bars, cafes, and exceptional dining establishments such as Emeril's in New Orleans, Kalaya in Philadelphia, and Kann in Portland, Oregon.

The value of the credit differs based on the specific card. Resy credits for Amex Platinum Card holders amount to $400 per annum, capped at $100 per quarter. Gold Card users can anticipate an annual total of $100, separated into two sets of $50 for the first and latter half of the year. Meanwhile, Delta SkyMiles Platinum and Reserve American Express cardmembers are eligible for $10 and $20 monthly, respectively.

There will be an extra step for cardmembers starting August 1. In an attempt to improve user experience, eligible establishments will include a badge on Resy's website or app at the time of purchase to identify if they participate in the Resy credit scheme.

This initiative could prove quite productive as Amex continues to expand its dining network. In 2024 they invested in Tock, a reservation tool serving high-end eateries, vineyards, and events of a temporary nature. Resy aims to integrate Tock's venues onto its platform over the summer, in turn offering Resy users access to exclusive Tock dining options.

Cardholders can maximize the benefit by visiting Resy prior to dining out, paying with their registered Amex card and monitoring the dates of account resets.
