While matcha lattes have been gaining popularity in numerous coffee shops across the US, including Starbucks and Dunkin’, Japan's premier matcha café brand, Nana's Green Tea, is making strides to further establish its presence in the American coffee scene. The brand, which first opened its doors in Tokyo in 2001, has since grown into Japan's largest matcha café network with roughly 80 locations, expanding its reach to Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

In the US, Nana's Green tea has already established storefronts in several key cities including Seattle, New York City, Las Vegas, and Honolulu, and aims to further increase its footprint. The brand's California-based flagship store, located in Pasadena, unveiled on May 9 and was closely followed by upcoming stores in Boston, Idaho, and Northern California.

Yet, Nana's Green Tea is not only known for its matcha lattes. The café brand offers a variety of other drinks and elaborately crafted parfaits. Some locations have even provided customers with yoshoku (Japanese-Western) dishes, such as delectable katsu curry.

The ingredients used by Nana's Green Tea speaks to its commitment to quality. Its matcha supply comes directly from Japan, from renowned tea producer Yamamasa Koyamaen, a company with roots dating back to the Edo period. Other Japanese teas, like genmaicha and hojicha, are specifically sourced from specialty tea provider Baisa Nakamura.

Those visiting Nana's Green Tea won't be disappointed with the extensive menu on offer. An evident pattern emerges across the various parfait and drinks on offer, with the matcha latte and its variations stealing the show. From the basic matcha latte to unique offerings like a matcha latte topped with soft serve and chocolate crunch, patrons are in for a matcha-filled experience.

True to its Japanese roots, Nana's Green Tea offers decadently designed parfaits. With layers of matcha jelly, vanilla soft serve, crunchy corn flakes, mochi, matcha ice cream, red bean paste, and topped with whipped cream, their matcha mochi parfait is a true masterpiece.

With a variety of offerings including parfaits that incorporate hojicha's nutty flavor, katsu curry dishes, soft-serve ice cream served in gold-colored cone holders, and even plates of rice and fried chicken, Nana's Green Tea certainly has something to suit every palate, redefining the matcha experience in the United States.
